Fourth of July Celebrations

Kick off July with a bang at the Tacoma Fourth of July Summer Blast. This all-day event features live music, food vendors, craft booths, and a spectacular fireworks show over Commencement Bay. The festivities start at noon at Dune Peninsula and Cummings Park on Ruston Way. They culminate in a fireworks display around 10pm. Additionally, this family-friendly event is a great way to celebrate Independence Day with the community​.

Bark by the Bay

Pet lovers, mark your calendars for July 13th! Bark by the Bay, a canine-centric festival, takes place at Chambers Creek Regional Park. From 10am to 3pm, enjoy vendor booths, pet adoptions, and activities for dogs and their owners. This event also supports the Puget Sound Pet Food Bank, accepting donations of pet food and supplies​.

Summer Playground & Meal Program

Running all month, the Summer Playground & Meal Program offers free lunch to youth under 18, Monday through Friday. Held at various parks across Pierce County, this program includes organized activities and games from 10am to 3pm. Also, lunch is served between 12pm and 1pm. It’s a fantastic way for kids to stay active and engaged during the summer break​.

LeMay Motors & Movies

Every other Friday, LeMay – America’s Car Museum hosts Motors & Movies. On July 12th, bring a blanket or watch “Back to the Future: Part II” from your car. They will screen it on their 40-foot outdoor screen. Furthermore, gates open at 6pm, and the movie starts at sunset. This free event is perfect for a nostalgic night under the stars.

Tacoma Ocean Fest

Celebrate the ocean and its wonders at Tacoma Ocean Fest on July 28th. Held at the Foss Waterway Seaport, this event features art, music, dance, film, poetry, and science activities. Additionally, the festival aims to raise awareness about ocean conservation while providing fun and educational experiences for all ages.

Low Tide Beach Walks

Explore the rich marine life of the Salish Sea with Harbor WildWatch’s Low Tide Beach Walks. These guided tours, led by biologists and naturalists, help you discover the diverse intertidal zone ecosystem. Moreover, the walks are free and scheduled throughout July at various beaches. It’s a perfect family activity for those who love the outdoors and marine biology​.

Family Nature Walks

Join naturalist-led Family Nature Walks in Tacoma parks. These walks explore local flora and fauna and how they adapt to the changing seasons. Scheduled on various dates and locations throughout July, it’s an educational outing that connects families with nature and local wildlife​.
